DIVERSE AND COLOURFUL
The cultural diversity in the Ruhr area is unique. To promote it and make it known internationally, the RVR initiates and supports exceptional partnership projects, events and regional networks for cultural creators.

One highlight of its commitment on behalf of culture was the international event surrounding the European Capital of Culture RUHR.2010. As joint initiator, the RVR was involved in the application, and was co-shareholder of the company responsible for implementation, RUHR.2010 GmbH.
To this day, the networks created back then continue to shape the cultural scene, e.g. RuhrBühnen, the joint project of the public theatres, and Kulturkonferenz Ruhr, an annual cultural policy convention for the region.
The flagship event for the international attraction of culture in the Ruhr area is the Ruhrtriennale festival of arts, organised by Kultur Ruhr GmbH, a joint venture between the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and the RVR.
